Beauty By Hand

Organized under the spirit of Handwork: Celebrating American Craft 2026, "California Rising: Beauty By Hand" is an inaugural show at the Palos Verdes Art Center, featuring thirty-three Californian craftspeople selling their work both Saturday and Sunday, August 22 – 23, 2026. We celebrate how handmade craft deepens our human roots and connects us on a fundamental level.

Reimagine Craft. California's Finest.

Celebrating Californian Craft

Inspired By Handwork 2026
Organized With The Artist In Mind

Joan Takayama-Ogawa is a third generation Japanese American who creates trompe l'oeil clay replicas of food and flora.

Regina Vorgang takes her background in traditional art and professional graphics design in this new stage of her life, weaving one-of-a-kind rugs and table runners.

Leslie Rosdol's charming and quixotic ceramicware reflects a reverence of nature and a bawdy sense of humor that brings together a sweet tension.

Randy Stromsoe is a master silversmith, having trained under Porter Blanchard. His sensuous forms come from a lifetime of experience.

Elaine Hyde is a master glassworker who uses fused dichroic glass to bring an iridescent shimmer to her graceful vessels.

Da Aie Park creates her art through the medium of hanji, a Korean mulberry fiber paper that is easily dyed. Her wall pieces turn the hanji into a canvas for color, shadow, and movement. She also creates inimitable bird sculptures with wire mesh.

About Us

When Handwork: Celebrating American Craft 2026 began in November of last year, it kicked off exhibitions and events at over three hundred museums, art centers, and community organizations across the United States.

Handwork 2026 celebrates the 250th Anniversary of the United States by presenting a history of how our hands helped build this country.

"Beauty By Hand" was organized by a small committee of Southern Californians inspired by Handwork 2026's mission.
